The Nature of the Beast (Part 1)
Religion: Old World vs New World
The entire record of official history is a litany of suffering on an unimaginable scale. If it were possible to strip away all the lies, fabrications and distortions, the picture would still be much the same, maybe even worse – if that were possible. Is that really the sum total of human achievement – the perfection of suffering? What is the nature of the beast that lies behind all of this suffering and was it always so?

Some definitions of the word ‘suffer’ are very revealing:
Suffer (v.)
In Mark 10:14 and Luke 18:16 of the KJV New Testament, it is written “But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”
The meaning of ‘suffer’ here is clearly a command to “allow” or “consent to” in the ‘put-up-with-it’ sense.
From this it would appear that suffering is caused by an external influence and is something we consent to or submit to willingly. None of the above definitions indicate that suffering involves discomfort or pain.
The noun ‘sufferance’ means,
Finally we have a link to ‘misery’, but ‘pain’ is only referred to in relation to the duration within which it can be endured.
It would be very easy to substitute the phrase “to be born into this world” for “to suffer.” Let’s see if it works:
To be born into this world is “to be made to undergo, endure, be subjected to, submit meekly to, allow or consent to the experience of being acted on by an agent.”
Let’s try substituting “living in this world requires” for “on sufferance”:
Living in this world requires “your passive permission, lack of interference, tolerance (especially of something wrong or illegal), the capacity to endure pain, hardship, etc. and your patient endurance of misery.”
Spot-on in my opinion and I’m not alone in this either. The lecturer Rudolf Steiner wrote in his book ‘The Origin of Suffering, “Remember how in some tragedy the tragic hero has stood before your eyes. The poet leads the hero again and again through suffering and conflicts full of suffering until he comes to the point where pain reaches its climax and finds relief in the end of the physical body (death). Then there lives in the soul of the spectator sympathy with the tragic hero and sadness that such sufferings are possible, but it appears that from the sight of suffering man was exalted and built up, that he has seen the suffering submerged in death and that out of death has come the assurance that victory exists over pain. Yes, even over death. So we see here too that a highest element in the consciousness of humanity is linked to suffering. And when we see how these things, small and great, ever again rise to the surface, how they actually form the elemental part of the whole of human nature and consciousness, then it must indeed seem to us as if in some way suffering is connected with the highest in man.” Rudolph Steiner will come up again later.
So, the very highest purpose of life is to ‘suffer’, to endure the misery of being ‘acted upon by agents’ and then and only then, once you have suffered sufficiently, you can die to relieve your suffering. Was it always this way? Since when has our history been shaped and infected by this seemingly diabolical doctrine? Where did this grotesque, twisted idea come from and why are we still living under its curse? Who or what Is this “Beast” that causes all of our suffering and does it even exist? And who are these bloody ‘agents’?
These are the questions I will attempt to address in this series of articles…
UPDATE Nov. 2022
Please be aware that the views expressed here regarding the chronology of the Christian and Roman eras and the creation of religious texts and dogma, have been heavily revised since this article was written. However, the basic tenet of the article remains highly relevant. Please see 'The Dark Earth Chronicles' for more information.
The doctrine of suffering is obviously very tightly enmeshed with religion, so that seems like the logical place to start. I would warn any readers with strong religious convictions that this will be a very bumpy ride indeed.
The great-grandaddy of all religions (well, the vast majority) is the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament. However, before looking into this I believe it’s necessary to make some clear distinctions and dispense with a few tired old labels that come loaded with very heavy baggage.
The Hebrew Bible is the basis of the Abrahamic religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam – which appeared in that order. The earliest takes us firmly into Jewish territory, so what exactly does the term ‘Jewish’ mean? Unfortunately, the question of a Jewish identity is highly controversial, even within the Jewish community and could take up an entire thread on its own.
As will be seen from the following sources, the invention of DNA testing has not solved the issue at all, in fact it has complicated it further. In Israel today, Russian Jewish immigrants are being DNA tested in a manner that resembles discrimination.
Why Is Jewishness Matrilineal? - Maternal Descent In Judaism
What does it mean to be genetically Jewish?
Genetic markers cannot determine Jewish descent
There is also the theory that the fearsome Khazars were converted ‘en-masse’ to Judaism in the 8th century. They were Turkic people who lived in a large medieval state called Khazaria in Eurasia near the Caucasus Mountains (very close to what many claim to have been Tartaria and Circassia), who then migrated to Eastern Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries giving rise to the Ashkenaz Jews. The Ashkenazi genes have proved to be even more unspecific than previously thought, although it has been claimed that a ‘Jewish’ genetic marker was identified in their DNA from the Middle East, but it is more likely to be from Iran, not ancient Judea.
It would appear then that Jewishness has nothing to do with race. You can convert to Judaism and become Judaic wherever you are, but you can’t convert to Iceland and become Icelandic from Patagonia, for example. Identifying a person as being Jewish is really no different to identifying them as being Christian or Muslim. The vast majority of people are born into these religions and never had the chance to consciously choose them before they were indoctrinated throughout childhood, but that has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with the circumstances of your birth. The concept of racial Judaism is part and parcel of a political agenda – I’m sure Zionism is familiar to all.
The introduction of the racial element into Judaism is an anomaly, a perversion. Herein lies a small clue as to how the Abrahmic religions were all the perfect cover for the rotten core. It’s this rotten core that needs to be exposed for what it is. Therefore the labels of Jew, Christian and Muslim, plus all the associated -isms, -anitys, -aics etc. are meaningless. However, they are impossible to ignore or abandon given the task at hand and when used in a negative sense should be regarded as referring to the inner core within each particular branch rather than the ‘grass-roots’ adherents.
The Hebrew Bible Source
According to Jim Duyer, a one time contributor to the stolenhistory.org and .net forums:
"the reason that the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet was without vowels, is because they did not invent it. They merely copied, exactly, the Phoenician alphabet, which was without vowels. The Arabic was the same way - without. I believe personally that it is a case of the scribes, who were often also the religious leaders, making it near impossible for anyone to call bullshit on anything that they said - since they were the ones who could "tell" you what it meant. The same thing is happening today, where Christians use the Old Testament, and yet you can find conflicting answers to the same questions all over the book - use the one that suits your agenda and there you go. Two versions of creation and man's creation, both of which are different, three versions of the Ten Commandments, which differ, and another version with only seven commandments in the New Testament, which also differ. Easy to confuse, and guaranteed to cause religious wars, genocide, and hate for thousands of years to come. And that, in my opinion, was the intention of the book all along - to create uncertainty, hate, fear and dissent among humans."
Jim Duyer also claims that most of the Mesopotamian stories of the flood, creation, creation of man, etc., were written during the Amorite occupation of Sumeria. The Amorites translated all these old Sumerian epics into Akkadian and later went on to write the Hebrew Bible. Abraham and his family were Amorites, as were his father, Terah and his brother, Haran, who was named after the Amorite town of Harran in Turkey from whence they originated. Sumerian was already a dead language when the Mesopotamian epics were being translated. Therefore, there was already one layer of interpretation and possible manipulation involved even before those same stories were then later translated again from Akkadian into Hebrew.
Whether you consider this book to literally be ‘the gospel truth’ or not, it’s effect upon mankind’s history has been immense. Even if it’s all fiction and I’ll be honest and admit that I believe most of it is, somewhere within those stories lies the key to exposing the rotten core.
From this one book sprang the three Abrahamic religions; Judaism, Christianity and Islam. All of these religions share the same basic concepts. The Redeemer Agenda has four components:
Orthodox Jews accept all of these points, but don’t recognise Jesus as their Messiah. They are still waiting for one, although as we shall see later, there have been many pretenders. Christians follow the teachings of the apostle Peter who addressed converting Jews as "a chosen race, a royal priest-hood, a holy nation, and God's own people" (l Peter 2:9), thereby transferring the status of "Chosen People" from the Jews to the Christians. Roman Christianity co-opted the Jewish redeemer agenda and transformed it into a universal or "catholic" program of salvation. The different distinctions between Judaism, Christianity and Islam are partly the result of differing views of these four points.
By combining the redeemer agenda with the Jewish tradition of "sacred history", Catholic Christianity enforced a salvationist mindset upon the whole human race, indoctrinating specific beliefs that define and dictate the behavior of all who accept it. This plan - attributed to the off-world Patriarch - required the conquest and conversion of the entire world. It was perpetrated for a thousand years throughout Europe before its victims, having been converted into perpetrators, carried it across the ocean to the New World under the sign of the Cross.
Joshua and the Israelites Entering the Promised Land Source
The justification for this comes from God the Father’s grant of a specific territory – ‘The Promised Land’ - to the ‘Chosen People’ plus dominion over the entire earth. This concept of domination over the absentee landlord God’s creation denies the sanctity of nature. The human species is pre-defined as the controller and opponent of nature rather than its guardian and ally.
Inflicting suffering was transformed into a righteous and virtuous act of faithful devotion, whilst for those who did the suffering it became a divine, redemptive calling. This was the master-stroke that drove the violence, genocide and destruction across the world. Not only was this violence sanctioned by the divine being, but he could, at the same time, redeem that suffering and release the perpetrators and their victims from their sins. This enabled the perpetrators to bypass any concept of guilt because they were simply instruments of ‘God’s will’. The undeniable outcome of these circumstances within the human mind was (and still is) a detachment from reality resulting in inhumanity on a massive scale.
Morality, far from being an innate and instinctive tendency to act kindly, out of generosity and with no thought of reward, became totally perverted by the dogma and institutions of religion. The glorification of suffering caused further detachment, either through self-sacrifice, the infliction of suffering on others or the denial of basic, natural human desires within one’s own body. Such behaviour had no moral basis, but was instead contrived in order to avoid what religion defined as ‘sin’ and to secure the favours of the off-world deity and ‘salvation’ in the afterlife. This unnatural situation led to narcissism, whereby consciousness recoils from the experience and becomes an observer or witness (the word martyr means "witness”) filtering out all uncomfortable experiences and sensations. The outward expression of this appears to be one of selfless disassociation, however, beneath the surface lies inner turmoil.
[According to ‘The Betrayal of the Body’ by psychotherapist Alexander Lowen (a follower of Wilhelm Reich and a specialist on narcissism,) the condition can be provoked by an outer submission covering an inner defiance. Outwardly the sufferer displays the appearance of having sacrificed the right to personal fulfilment and satisfaction and that they have surrendered to the denial of pleasure and enjoyment. The inner defiance requires that the balance be restored.]
“The tendency of fanatically religious people to injure themselves and to behave masochistically, etc., confirms what we have said. Clinical experience in sex-economy [sexual repression] shows that the desire to be beaten or to castigate oneself corresponds to the instinctual desire for release without incurring guilt. There is no physical tension that will not evoke fantasies of being beaten or of being tortured as soon as the person concerned feels that he himself is incapable of bringing about the release. Here we have the root of the passive ideology of suffering of all genuine religions.” Source: ‘The Mass Psychology of Fascism’ , Wilhelm Reich, 1930-33
At its apex, the condition of the totally disassociated narcissist degenerates to the point where they become the supreme judge of value and reality. The mutation of Western consciousness into full-blown narcissistic detachment from the body and denial of the sensorial world has taken many centuries.

“Ye shall utterly destroy all the places where in the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree. And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their idols with fire; and ye shall hew down the carved images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place." Deut. 12:2-3
As we shall see further on, this is quite relevant. The Old World Religion acknowledged and cooperated with what may be called elemental or nature spirits. However, the Judeo-Christian god was obviously a jealous god and would not tolerate the worship of the natural world, even though he had allegedly created it himself.
In spite of our pre-conceived notion, the Bible never describes angels as having wings. When they appear to Abraham in Genesis, 18:2, they are described as "three men" who ate and drank with him. These "angels" were also frequently involved with the propagation of the human race. Abraham's elderly wife, well past childbearing age, is said to have given birth to Isaac after a visit from “three men” (Genesis, Chapter 21). These "men" possess the power of life and death. They are credited with the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, yet they restored Abraham's Sarah to fertility. "Three men" play many many important roles in Biblical events. "Three men" also repeatedly feature in modern UFO events.
We have been told throughout history that ultra-terrestrials, or superior human-like non-humans, have been "assigned" to walk among us. In the Bible, for example, the Hebrew prophet Zechariah states that he was visited by angels and that, "I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him there were red horses, speckled and white. Then I said, 0 my Lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be. And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the Lord hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth. " Zechariah 1 : 7-1 1
Further on, Zechariah describes how he saw a cylinder-shaped object in the sky, and the "angel" informed him, '''This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth. " Zechariah V: 1-4 The "angel" continued by describing how the objects literally spy upon every human being.
The Nag Hammadi Codices were discovered in Egypt in 1945 before the bulk of the so-called Dead Sea Scrolls were unearthed later near Qumran. The Nag Hammadi Codices differ substantially from ones found later as they contain what appears to be genuine pre-Christian material. [Whether you consider any of the NHL and DSS material to be genuine is another matter.]
During the first centuries of the Christian era, Hellenistic romances were the pulp fiction of their time, comparable to today’s adult comic books. The stories were “full of miracles, supernatural signs, cameo scenes with stock characters, plus aphorisms drawn from folklore and religious traditions - in short, a pastiche mixing fable and folk wisdom with realistic elements.” (Source: John Lamb Lash, 2006. “Not in His Image.”) Conveniently, the only ones to have survived are the four gospels of The New Testament. Nothing in the Nag Hammadi Codices bears any resemblance to the four gospels of the New Testament. “The word ‘euangelium’ found on some tractates could be translated as positive message, or good news, rather than gospel. Far from being alternative versions of the New Testament, the Egyptian codices contain a preponderance of material that rejects and refutes the salvationist message of the Evangelists - and does so in ruthless and often lacerating terms.” (ibid)
In ‘Beyond Theology,’ Alan Watts wrote, “We are spiritually paralysed by the fetish of Jesus. Even to atheists he is the supremely good man, the exemplar and moral authority with whom no one may disagree. Whatever our opinions, we must perforce wangle the words of Jesus to agree with them. Poor Jesus! If he had known how great an authority was to be projected upon him, he would never have said a word.”
Many people believe that Jesus is the pre-eminent messenger of love. When the Pharisees asked him "which is the first commandment of all," he replied: “The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is this: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
The Old World Belief system would not have understood the concept of being commanded to love. The author D. H. Lawrence wrote a two-line poem entitled "Retort to Jesus."
“Whoever forces himself to love
engenders a murderer in his own breast.”
(Which is a bit of a rubbish poem really. It doesn't rhyme.)
The golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." is not entirely original to Jesus. There are slight variations in all cultures worldwide, but it was known to have been the central teaching of the Jewish Rabbi Hillel. When asked "Which is the first commandment of all?" Hillel replied: "Do not do unto others that which is hateful unto thee. That is the essence of the Torah. All the rest is commentary."
Hillel’s statement is perfectly clear and unambiguous. In comparison, Jesus’ switch of syntax from negative to positive and modification from “hateful unto thee” to “do unto you,” brings a different interpretation and introduces an essence of manipulation. ‘If you would have others do something unto you, then do unto them accordingly’. The prime consideration in this version is what one wants from others rather than not abusing others. In ‘The Faith of a Heretic,’ Walter Kaufmann claims that Judeo-Christian morality "does not know the value of a deed done for its own sake," i.e. without expectation of reward or punishment.
Then we have "turn the other cheek" and "resist not evil." If everyone turned the other cheek and then resisted not the evil to hit back, there would be a worldwide Monty Python type sketch of everyone continually taking it in turns to hit each other’s cheek. Apart from being absurd, this is encouragement to suffer.
Many of the sayings attributed to Jesus in the New Testament reinforce the redemptive value of suffering and the promise of supernatural retribution, such as, "do good to them that hurt you," and "Blessed art thou when you are persecuted for my sake." This allows victims to be abused, tortured and killed to the end of time, confident in the promise of salvation, vindication and a place amongst the saved. Meanwhile, those famous Christian soldiers, marching as to war, can commit all the atrocities they like, safe in the knowledge that they are forcing the world to conform to ‘God's plan’. Both they and the victims believe in the same solution to the problem of evil because evil – persecution, pain and suffering - comes from god, but so does blessing, salvation and justice and vindication as well. Talk about, ‘Do what thou wilt shall be the only law.’ It’s license to murder, torture, rape, lie, manipulate, and control, because whatever the abusers do, they are assured not only of the passive consent of their victims, but also that in abusing them they are saving them – although only the believing victims who embrace the same creed and follow the same plan get saved. So, best get believing quick.
(Cue another Monty Python sketch…
“Pardon me, would you mind if I perform a quick baptism on you before I stab you?”
“No, no, not at all. Will it hurt?”
“Certainly not, just a bit of water on the forehead and Bob’s your uncle!”)
Although he was referring to the UFO phenomena, Jacques Vallée observed that, "The way to a man's belief is through confusion and absurdity." (The field of UFO research is not unrelated, as will be demonstrated in Part 2.) All are lost even before they start, because, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." We are all so hopeless that we can never win – we were never meant to win. The master plan of the internal rotten core was designed so that the Jewish people would fail and the Christians would suffer and inflict suffering ad infinitum.
Exactly when the transition occurred from the Old World belief system to Judeo-Christian ideology is difficult to pinpoint. To speak of dates is pointless as they are mostly meaningless thanks to manipulation and obfuscation. It would be fair to assume that, as far as Europe is concerned, it coincided with the introduction of Roman Catholicism – whenever that was.
The nature of the Old World belief system is also quite difficult to pin down as it was completely and utterly destroyed. What written material there may have been was suppressed a very long time ago and probably there was very little anyway as the tradition was for the oral dissemination of spiritual knowledge and learning through personal experience.
Modern religionists and historians have been careful to divide the Old World Belief system into different regional or cultural groups and to describe them as either pagan heresies or early Christian sects. The labels we have today include Hibernia, Levantine, Samothrace, Mithraism, Brahmin, Phrygian, Egyptian, Osirian, Orphic, Druidic and Gnostic. However, they were really just different flavours of the same ideals adapted to different environments.
Apart from the writings of early Christians against the ‘heretics,’ valuable sources of information can be found in the Nag Hammadi Library. Prior to their discovery in 1945, scholars had portrayed Gnosticism as being an early Christian heretical sect that was eventually eradicated after the Albigensian Crusade in the 13th century. However, the evidence from the Nag Hammadi Codices tells a very different story.
The Old World theory of creation is quite different to that found in Genesis. The stories devised to transmit the basic concept differ between the various flavours of The Old World Belief, but most adhere to the same principle – the birth of this realm occurred when primordial Oneness dreamed of Duality. When Oneness awoke, the sensation of the dream became a creative Impetus and brought into being what we experience as our physical bodies and everything these bodies experience with the five senses. The Oneness is present throughout all the phases between solid matter and its pure original form, connecting everything together - as ‘Oneness’ implies. This dream of Duality is a story of contrasts.

To the Old World Civilisation, love was not something that one had to be commanded to feel for another, as in the Judeo-Christian dogma. For them it was what linked the spiritual self with the material body and was therefore the key to spiritual balance and harmony between the moral and immortal aspects of humanity. The sensory and material desires of the body were not considered ‘sinful’ and disruptive, but fundamental to the health of the individual and the harmony of society as a whole. This natural morality didn’t require strict rules or commandments as it was based upon instinct and the innate connection between nature and each other that the Old World Civilisation enjoyed.
With the rise of Christianity and increased concern for the narcissistic, self-regarding ego, the conditions for this self-regulating, natural system of morality were corrupted and lost. At the same time the Old World was confronted with many other incompatibilities to their worldview, such as social equality and the redemptive value of suffering.
The social equality aspect may be quite hard to take in for the modern reader. The Old World Belief concerning social status centred upon the concept of ‘Heimarmene’ or the "dominion of Fate." It may be compared to an individual’s karmic circumstances. Free will or freedom from the unconscious compunction of karmic conditioning and the play of external ‘spiritual’ forces, or Fate, was not ‘god-given’. It was something that had to be realised, activated and only then used. Without liberation from the dominion of Fate, we become slaves to it through our self-identification with name and form and personal history. This is the state of the majority of humankind. The way out of Heimarmene was through personal enlightenment. This was achieved under careful supervision by shaman-type teachers, known as The Revealers, in the various so-called ‘Mystery Schools.’
One’s place within In the Old World society was determined by this ‘Heimarmene’ principle and defined one’s role in life. Within this system there was an awareness that ‘not all men [or women] are created equal’ and certainly within the Old World society in India there was even a degree of choice. Old World morality was based upon honour and honesty so that even in situations that we today may consider unjust there was no malice or mistreatment involved. Servants and aristocrats could behave with mutual respect for each other knowing that Fate could deal either an unexpected blow at any time.
Certainly there was and still is, a caste system in India. When the British East India Company colonised India, supposedly on behalf of Queen Victoria, the entire fabric of India’s Old World civilisation was turned upside down. The caste system was perverted and used to divide and rule the population. In South America the Spanish operated a caste system based upon blood. The purer the Spanish blood the higher was the position within society. Personally, I suspect that there was a caste system already in place, just as in India, but it was also corrupted and used as a weapon. There was even a Caste War of Yucatán in 1847.
The Caste System in the New World Source
Even the Jews have a caste system divided between Yisroel, Levi and Kohen. As long as the Jewish Temple is standing in Jerusalem, the Kohen must take care of the offerings and services and live in ritual purity. The Levi are there to assist the Kohen, everyone else is Yisroel. Determination is purely hereditary, there’s no choice involved.
Each different ‘flavour’ of the Old World Belief system would have had a slightly different implementation of the Heimarmene concept (and probably a different name that was easier to pronounce), tailored to geographical and environmental circumstances, as with all other Old World concepts.
Christianity turned the entire system upside down. Fate was not immutable and could be fought against and conquered through a personal alliance with the Divine Redeemer. The Old World tolerance was replaced with intolerance. If you were not of the faith then your only value was the price you would fetch as a slave. Even if you were a converted Christian then suffering as a slave would be good for your soul. The idea that one could break free from the bounds of Heimarmene through personal enlightenment was crushed and replaced by ‘Original Sin’ that condemned everyone forever.
The Old World Belief system had no place within it for the notion of salvation through suffering. To the Old World Civilisation the concept of divine retribution carried out by a father god and his son through an apocalyptic destruction of the world made no sense. The notion that people have to be destroyed in order to save them would have sounded like insanity. There is nothing within Celtic, Iberian, Gallic, Italic or Hellenic mythology that even comes close. The Nordic Ragnarok, "the twilight of the gods," speaks of catastrophe but this totally different from a willful act of punishment by a male creator god.
The Old World Civilisation regarded the earth itself as a divine feminine goddess. The supreme apocalyptic act of patriarchal violence against the mother goddess of the earth was a traumatic and shocking idea for the rank and file of the Old World system who lived in a harmonious, gender-balanced culture. For this to change so radically, a huge and permanent division had to be created between the social and cultural status of men and women. Christianity’s underlying theme of dominion and patriarchal domination included that of women as well. Under the guise of a religion, a new political system of control, subservience and domination arose.
Hieros Gamos Source
Another anomalous concept for the Old World Civilisation was that of divine kingship or theocracy. To them the ‘hieros gamos’, or ‘sacred marriage’ was a representation of the royal male candidate joining with the Magna Mater, the Great Mother in a ceremony of ‘anointing’. In the Old Testament’s foray into patriarchal theocracy with King David, the priestess had already been eliminated, therefore by the time of the New Testament there was no hope for it. The word ‘anointed’, which was ‘messiah’ in Hebrew, became ‘christos’ in Greek. Saint Paul, a Hellenised Jew from Syria, was the first to definitively assert the divinity of "the Christ" and then in the Council of Nicaea in 325, it was made official. This assertion by Saint Paul of a literal incarnation of god rather than a human representative, was unprecedented in Judaism at that time. Of course, the Old World Belief system was full of incarnate gods, therefore Saint Paul was assuring that Jesus could compete.
Obviously, just about all of the scholars working on the Nag Hammadi Codices have been from a Judeo-Christian background and have simply ignored any anti-Christian material. For example, “The Children of Seth” were descended from one of the sons of Adam who only gets passing mention in Genesis 4:25 "And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew." The ‘gnostics’ or spiritual descendants of this Seth considered themselves to be of “another seed”, one that was totally distinct from the Judeo-Christian lineage. In The Second Treatise of the Great Seth (IV,l) a learned ‘gnostic’ teacher protests against "the plan which they devised about me, to release upon the world their Error and their senselessness" NHL 55.10.
Much of the original material in the codices is dedicated to the rebuttal of the Redeemer Agenda of the Christians. K.W. Troger, the Gnostic scholar, has estimated that one-third of the Coptic Codices is anti-Judaic and when combined with the anti-Christian material, it amounts to well over half of the Nag Hammadi Codices. The Second Treatise of the Great Seth in particular contains page after page of scathing attacks on Judaic and Christian beliefs and customs. It ridicules the biblical forefathers and castigates those who follow patriarchal religion as being unable to see how it corrupts their very sense of humanity.
The Old World was not prepared or equipped to resist the onslaught of Judeo-Christianity. The Old World Civilisation was forcibly disconnected from nature, themselves and each other. The Second Treatise of the Great Seth gives us an eyewitness account by a ‘Gnostic Revealer’ of the last days of the Old World. ”We were hated and persecuted, not only by those who are simply incapable of understanding us, but also by those who think they are advancing the name of Christos, although they were unknowingly empty, ignorant of who they are, like dumb animais. . . . They persecuted those who have been liberated by me, a Revealer, because they hate those who are free – those hateful ones who, should they shut their mouth, would weep with futile groaning because they do not know who I am. Instead, they served two masters, even a multitude. But they will become victorious in everything, in wars and battles, jealous division and wrath . . . having proclaimed the doctrine of a dead man and lies so as to resemble the freedom and purity of the initiates, our sacred assembly. And so uniting in their doctrine of fear and slavery, mundane needs, and abandoning reverence, being petty and ignorant, they cannot embrace the nobility of truth, for they hate what they are, and love what they are not." As the occultist Rudolph Steiner (yes, him again) said back in 1917, “There existed at this time [pre-Christian] a wisdom about which people often speak today in what could be called a sacrilegious way, though they have scarcely any idea of what it represented. It was something which has now been eliminated from human evolution by certain streams which are opposed to more profound Christian revelation. This was Gnosis, a wisdom into which much of the knowledge revealed to mankind by ancient, atavistic clairvoyance had flowed. Every last fragment of Gnosis, both verbal and written, had been rooted out by western dogmatic Christianity...” Source:‘The Karma of Untruthfulness’, Rudolph Steiner.
